How to Wear : Clashing Prints

Hey guys, so I had no idea that iMovie cuts off a few inches above and below of the video. Hence, there are some parts that looks awkwardly cut in the weirdest places such as eyes and ankles. Too lazy to re shoot the whole 4 outfits. I instead take pics of all the outfits (altho outfit 4 seems to be missing a top, so I improvised) to compensate. Enjoy :)

Clashing two patterns in one outfit can be scary, but when it's done right, these brave combo can look surprisingly chic and fun. Let's check out some of basic strategy guides in mixing prints.

BACKGROUND SIMILARITY

When mixing prints, it's best to choose items that share a neutral background like brown, black, white or gray. It keeps you looking chic instead of sloppy.

flowery cardigan - bought in Bangkok,
siripade skirt - c/o Leony Evelyn
pointy flats - Nine West

COLORS SIMILARITY IN PRINTS

Make sure the patterns have at least a few colors in common. For example, the green and orange in my shirt matches exactly with the green and orange in my skirt. This is important when the two items don't share the same neutral background.

MIX UP THE SCALE

If you want to mix up stripes with stripes or floral with floral or like this one polkadot with polkadot, it's perfectly fine as long as they're not in the same size.

red polkadot top - Gaudi
polkadot skirt - from Mom
bag - Mango

LESS IS MORE

The most important rule when mixing patterns is don't go overboard. Only two pieces in one outfit should have a pattern and keep the rest completely plain. That includes jewelry.

Adding a plain outer is a good idea to bring the whole outfit together.
If you're shy, try small, such as a printed clutch with your printed skirt or top.

I hope the first day of August is treating you well.
Good day!
